Two weeks before trial was set to begin for a Seattle woman who was struck by a Metro bus, was settled out of court when the county agreed to pay $4.5 million to resolve her claims that arose from a bus accident.
The woman was a pedestrian walking in a crosswalk, when the county operated bus failed to stop and the side view mirror struck her, shattering her arm and causing a brain injury. The county had accepted liability and admitted that the driver was negligent, and has issued a statement accepting responsibility.
As a result of the significant injuries she sustained, she has lost her job as a staff attorney for the state Department of Social and Health Services. Despite all of her past and future medical expenses, the settlement also considers her loss of future wages. If you or someone you know was injured in a bus accident, it is important to contact an attorney to help you recover for your injuries.
