Two women formerly employed by Los Angeles surgical centers associated with the 1-800-GET-Thin ads have filed a lawsuit against the clinics alleging “gruesome conditions.” In the suit, the plaintiffs claim workers at the clinics “persuaded patients to have medically unnecessary surgeries and billed insurance companies for procedures that were never performed.” The suit also claims doctors at the clinics covered up the mistakes that led to the death of a patient in September.
According to the Los Angeles Times, at least five people have died since 2009 at Lap Band clinics in the Los Angeles area.
